Chromasphere, created in collaboration with artist Taiji Miyasaka, draws its forms from the geology surrounding Spokane and aims to create a colored interior skyscape using lighting to help the forms transcend their physical boundaries and take on an atmospheric quality that stands in contrast to the austere finishes and surfaces of the building that contains it.
The forms are lit from within with white light that reflects off the the painted interior surface of each sculpture causing them to glow with colored light derived from the objects themselves.
The multi-resolution installation functions at human scale while also supporting the building’s presence in the urban context.
